Social Media Site
What’s The Buzz This Season?
Being spring in the air, you would think it was the bee’s buzzing, but really it’s the social networking site pitchbuzz.com. Pitchbuzz was launched July 30th, 2007, and is a community for developers, musicians and graphic designers. This site serves opportunities to their audience by meeting others in their field or with similar interests, becoming friends, and using it as a library for their projects and work. This allows you to build relationships and possibly use contacts for business or leisure in the future.
The social media used on this website include:
- Instant chat
- Profiles
- Sharing of work
- Relationships (friends/fan-base)
- Updates
- Viewer control
After getting past the annoying replay music on the homepage (which I found to be ironic if it is a place for musicians) I decided to browse some topics and found myself very satisfied with my results. Very simple tabs to help search for pages your interested in, and clear pictures in the search results to satisfy what you’re looking for. Their simple “old-school” messaging system makes it seem universal and easy to use and interact with others.
It is not a very popular site, and probably won’t ever be able to compete with top music/designer social media websites such as Myspace, and Purevolume. I personally have never heard anything about this site although according to their press release word of mouth was suppose to be their main source to reach their target audience. I just decided to find a social networking site that was rare and probably not done by any others in the class, as there are millions out there still.

Great job Ashlene! You described a very thorough analysis of the social media site. The only thing that Where you say that it probably will not be able to compete with other social networking sites, why do you think that is? The only thing I would recommend is that maybe where you say this you should just explain a little bit about how they would be able to improve and possibly compete with other sites in the future. Great job!

Great read. I like your understanding of the social media aspects that make up this site. Very thorough with your analysis as well. As with Nathan, it would have been great to hear your thoughts on how they could better improve the social media used on this site to improve the over-all effectiveness of your chosen site. Excellent job!
